A federal agency issues a cybersecurity warning and HHS is funding a training initiative for primary care physician and dental residents.
Here are seven federal government and policy updates to know:
-The Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency recommended that all organizations boost cybersecurity in preparation for possible threats from Russia.
-The deadline for 24 states to comply with the Biden administration's COVID-19 vaccination mandate passed Feb. 14.
-The CDC on Feb. 10 proposed new opioid prescribing guidelines that encourage clinicians to exercise best judgment when prescribing opioids, recommending they initially prescribe "the lowest dosage to achieve expected effects." The proposal is open for comment until April 11.
-HHS provided $19.2 million in funding under the American Rescue Plan to expand training of primary care physicians and dental residents in rural and underserved areas. It gave another $103 million to address staffing needs, burnout and mental health among healthcare workers.
-The FDA warned healthcare providers and the public against the use of two COVID-19 rapid tests that were falsely labeled as being authorized by the agency.
-The Biden administration reignited Cancer Moonshot, a program aimed at reducing cancer deaths by 50 percent over the next 25 years and improving the experience of living with and surviving cancer.
