Great Barrington, Mass.-based Community Health Programs launched a multi-year, $6 million project to increase dental care for Medicaid patients in Berkshire County The Berkshire Eagle reported Feb. 5.
About 10,000 Medicaid enrollees in Berkshire County lack a dental provider. Community Health Programs provides dental care for about 4,000 Medicaid patients, but it hopes to increase that number to 8,000 patients with the new project.
The organization will invest money from public and private grants, in addition to its own funds, to expand its staff, equipment and space for the project. It will also be supported by the state's 65 percent increase in dental reimbursement rates for federally qualified health centers.
