A Houston father and son were arrested Jan. 31 on charges of practicing dentistry without a license, according to ABC13 Eyewitness.
Byron Alberto Zelaya, 58, and his son, Bryant Jesus Zelaya, 31, were both charged with a felony on suspicion of unlawfully practicing dentistry.
Byron Zelaya's 29-year-old nephew, Omar Navarrete-Sevilla, was also charged with unlawfully practicing dentistry, but with a misdemeanor.
A previous patient of the allegedly unlicensed practice told ABC13 Eyewitness they paid $2,000 for a cleaning and brackets to prepare for braces, but they were concerned about office hygiene and lack of licensing verification.
The Zelayas have since been bonded out of jail.
