Police have arrested a man in Oklahoma on 20 counts of practicing dentistry without a license, Fox affiliate KOKI-TV reported Nov. 8.
Mansoor Magbool Bhatti is accused of diagnosing and treating dental patients without a license through 61 appointments from May 2020 to July 2021.
In June, a patient contacted their insurance company after noticing a billing issue. The insurance group told the patient that there was no record on file of Mr. Bhatti being a licensed dentist. The patient filed a complaint with the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry and the board launched an investigation. In July, investigators went undercover, acting as patients in the office.
"He's never been licensed and he's never been to school," said Susan Rogers, executive director and general counsel of the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry, referring to Mr. Bhatti.
According to an affidavit cited by KOKI-TV, Mr. Bhatti attended Memphis-based University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Dentistry for three days. He never obtained a degree.
