A 61-year-old dentist who had his license suspended following criminal charges last year has been deemed currently incompetent to stand trial, NBC and CW affilliate WFMJ-TV reported Oct 27.
A judge said Duane Gruber, DMD, is not currently competent to stand trial for charges filed in 2020 after he allegedly threatened AT&T store employees with a knife and threatened to bomb the store. The judge ordered the dentist to receive involuntary mental health treatment at Torrance (Pa.) State Hospital.
As a result of the incident, the Pennsylvania Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs suspended Dr. Gruber's license to practice dentistry in July 2020, on the grounds that his continued practice "may be an immediate and clear danger to the public health and safety."
