The Sacramento (Calif.) Native American Health Center is using a $500,000 grant to open a new clinic to expand care for the Indigenous community, ABC10 reported Oct. 22.
The health center received the grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation.
Health center CEO Britta Guerrero told ABC10 that Sacramento has one of the largest Native American populations in the state at 14 percent. The city also has a large number of people who are underserved, underinsured, low-income and medically dependent, she said.
The dental clinic is a part of a larger project that includes buildings for behavioral health services and a youth and family area.
Construction of the dental clinic started in October; it is expected to open between June and September 2022.
