A Chandler, Ariz.-based dental practice has closed temporarily after an explosion at a nearby printing shop caused damage to the clinic, Fox10 Phoenix reported Aug. 30.
The cause of the explosion that took place Aug. 26 is under investigation, but authorities from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives suspect a gas leak. The explosion caused burn injuries to four people, but they are expected to recover.
The explosion caused the windows to blow out and ceiling tiles to fall at the Smiles for Chandler dental practice, which is a few doors down from the print shop. Employees and patients who were at the clinic during the time of the explosion were not harmed.
Smiles for Chandler owner James Heaton, DDS, said local dental practices have offered Smiles for Chandler use of their spaces while the office is closed. He said he hopes to reopen his practice next week.
