The American Dental Association has appointed Elizabeth Shapiro, DDS, as chief of governance and strategy management.
Dr. Shapiro was previously the senior director of the Center for Dental Practice within the ADA's Practice Institute, according to an Aug. 17 news release. She joined the ADA in 2001 and has served in numerous positions with the group.
She earned her dental degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. She then spent 15 years practicing dentistry in Illinois before taking part in the ADA’s Hillenbrand Fellowship.
In her new position, she will oversee operations of the group's house of delegates and board of trustees. In addition to working with the board on strategic planning initiatives, she will also manage several programs and act as a lead liaison to the ADA's council directors.
