Walter Lamacki, DDS, a former ADA trustee who served as president of the Chicago Dental Society, died July 27 at the age of 85.
Dr. Lamacki was active with the American Dental Association, being elected an 8th District trustee in 1990 and serving on multiple councils and committees, the organization said Aug. 4. He chaired an ADA committee to define "invasive procedure" and another that studied the AIDS crisis.
He held several leadership positions with the Illinois State Dental Society and Chicago Dental Society, the latter of which he served as president from 1985-86. He also was the longest serving editor of the Chicago Dental Society Review.
Dr. Lamacki earned his dental degree from Loyola University's former dental school in Chicago, which closed in 1993. He then served in the United States Army Dental Corps before establishing his Chicago practice in 1963. He moved his practice to Burbank, Ill., in 1973 and practiced there for more than three decades.
Dr. Lamacki is survived by his wife, three children and seven grandchildren.
