Longtime dental industry leader Herbert Yee, DDS, died of pneumonia June 26 at the age of 96, The Sacramento Bee reported July 9.
Dr. Yee immigrated to the U.S. from China when he was 6 and went on to earn his dental degree in 1948 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in San Francisco, now known as the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
According to his obituary, Dr. Yee served in multiple leadership roles throughout his lifetime, including president of the California State Board of Dental Examiners, president of Flint, Mich.-based International College of Dentists and a regent at the University of the Pacific, where he helped ensure the quality and integrity of education at the school. He was also the staff dentist for former California Govs. Pat Brown and Ronald Reagan.
He is survived by his brother, sister, two sons, two daughters-in-law and nine grandchildren.
