Kansas City (Mo.) University College of Dental Medicine was recently given $50,000 from the Philanthropic Society of the Joplin Regional Community Foundation.
The school is one of three entities to receive a $50,000 donation as part of the Community Foundation of the Ozarks' initiative to provide grants to local agencies and nonprofits that have a positive effect on their communities.
The donation will be used to fund development of the new dental school, which began construction in May with the goal of increasing the community's access to oral healthcare once completed.
The school also received a $20,000 donation from the La-Z-Boy Foundation earlier this month.
