Dental care utilization among Americans, by race and ethnicity

Recent data from the American Dental Association shows the percentage of people who visited a dentist within a year by age groups and race. Overall, dental care use has increased over the years for children and seniors but not adults. Hispanics in all three age groups have experienced the largest increase in dental care use. Racial disparities are the smallest for children and the largest for seniors.

Here are the percentages:

Children
White: 55.5 percent
Asian: 45.4 percent
Hispanic: 46.9 percent
Black: 42.6 percent

Adults
White: 47.8 percent
Asian: 38.9 percent
Hispanic: 38.9 percent
Black: 28.6 percent

Seniors
White: 54.8 percent
Asian: 40.5 percent
Hispanic: 31.8 percent
Black: 28.8 percent
