The American Dental Association recently launched a new research journal, JADA Foundational Science, the company announced in a May 17 press release.
The publication will include research from a variety of fields, including biology, chemistry, engineering, materials science, computer science and informatics, and technology. It will differ from the Journal of the American Dental Association in that it is open access and entirely online, increasing the accessibility of important medical research.
The organization has already begun to accept submissions for the journal, which go through a peer review process and will be available to anyone free of charge. The ADA decided to make the journal open access to remove accessibility barriers and encourage collaboration and interaction.
Jack Ferracane, PhD, is the editor-in-chief of the journal. He is the department chair of restorative dentistry and the director of biomaterials and biomechanics at Oregon Health & Science University School of Dentistry in Portland. According to the organization's website, the editorial board also consists of six associate editors who specialize in a variety of fields.
