The dental school at Memphis-based University of Tennessee Health Science Center is undergoing a $45 million renovation and expansion, reports The Commercial Appeal.
The construction of the Delta Dental of Tennessee Building and renovation of the existing dental building is set to be complete in spring 2023.
The new 68,000-square-foot facility will have 10 dental treatment rooms, faculty offices, seminar rooms and a lecture auditorium. The new building will also include a dental clinic specially designed to accommodate individuals who have physical, developmental or intellectual disabilities. The addition will nearly double the size of UTHSC's existing dental facilities.
Together, the buildings will be referred to as the Delta Dental of Tennessee Oral Health Complex, named after the company that has given several million dollars for the expansion.
The new facilities will allow the dental school to recruit more faculty and students.
