High Point (N.C.) University intends to add a dental school in fall 2023, pending approval from two accrediting agencies.
Announced May 5, the school plans to invest $150 million in the program. University President Nido Qubein said he expects the school to open with 32 students and eventually grow to 180 students. The school will be housed in a new campus building.
High Point's dental school will be the third in the state and the first among private schools.
High Point also announced Scott De Rossi, DMD, as the school's founding dean. In January, Dr. De Rossi stepped down as dean of UNC-Chapel Hill's dental school after four years.
