About 75 percent of Americans report feeling anxious when it comes to visiting a dentist, with many referring to dental offices as "scary" and "depressing." By revamping their practice design, dentists have a huge opportunity to reshape their patients' perception about visiting the office.
That's according to Greg Marinelli, founder and chief creative officer of Designwise, a dental office design company that's modernized hundreds of practices since its founding in 2014.
Focus group studies have shown that 90 percent of potential patients consider office decor and environment as factors when selecting a dentist, Designwise said.
"It would be a huge mistake not to take patient psychology and human intuition into account when building a dental practice," Mr. Marinelli said. "Dentists must realize that investing in their image, especially in today's image savvy and visual climate, is truly the x-factor they need to differentiate themselves from their competitors, and turn their struggling practice into the next must-have or must-see practice."
