The University at Buffalo (N.Y.) School of Dental Medicine received a $780,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, according to a March 10 news release.
The grant will allow the university to expand its S-Miles to Go dental program with the addition of a second mobile dental clinic. The 40-foot-long mobile clinic will include two dental chairs, a panoramic X-ray unit, digital radiography and more.
Set to begin operation in early 2022, the second mobile clinic is expected to expand the school's outreach by more than 1,000 patients each year. The unit will be staffed by University at Buffalo dental faculty and students.
The funding will also support the school's existing mobile dental van. The grant is the second award provided to the program by the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, an organization that provides funding to enhance healthcare access for New York communities.
