In the role, Dr. Douglas is responsible for management and leadership of the school’s faculty, acts as a liaison between the dean and faculty, and serves as director of research.
He joined the school’s faculty in 1999 and has served as interim associate dean since July 2019. Previously, Dr. Douglas was chair for the department of restorative dentistry and section head for fixed prosthodontics.
During his interim role, Dr. Douglas made faculty calibration a primary focus. “The field of dentistry is highly dynamic, and we invest significant energy to keep our faculty members abreast of the latest technologies, as well as calibrating our faculty, whether full time or part time, toward standardizing treatment, procedures and grading,” he told Advantage News.
The appointment was approved by the board of trustees Feb. 11.
