'We had to do it': Georgia dental staff pulls man from burning vehicle outside practice

Staff members at Midway (Ga.) Family Dental are being credited with saving a man's life after two vehicles collided in front of the practice Nov. 4, according to local Fox affiliate WTGS.

Liberty County (Ga.) Fire Services Chief Brian Darby told WTGS that a van and pickup truck collided outside the dental practice, resulting in both vehicles catching on fire.

Midway Family Dental owner Tad Jackson, DMD, told the station his associate, dental laboratory technology manager Gunn McIntosh, tried to pull one of the drivers out of his burning vehicle, but was unable to do so initially. They eventually were able to free the unconscious man.

"We had to get him out because it was going to blow up any minute,” Dr. Jackson said. "And it did blow up. We had to get him out or we all would have witnessed him die. He was going to die. We had to do it."

Mr. Darby told WTGS both drivers involved in the accident were sent to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
