A Florida man unhappy with his dental insurance coverage threatened his dentist, saying he would step on her as she died, according to The Daytona Beach News-Journal.
Moussa Assi, 64, was booked into a local jail Oct. 7 on charges of threats or extortion. Mr. Assi threatened to kill Jenna Obeng, DMD, if she didn't pay him double what was paid by Humana, his insurance company, according to a police report cited by the News-Journal.
"On Oct. 6, I will end her life," Mr. Assi allegedly said in a voicemail to the dentist. "I will step on her with my shoe while she is dying."
Dr. Obeng contacted police after the patient reportedly said he was on his way to Daytona, Fla.-based Dental USA Family Dentistry, where the dentist works. Mr. Assi called Dr. Obeng up to 10 times a day, accusing her of stealing money from Humana and threatening her life, according to police, allegedly saying in one call, "I hope your entire family dies of coronavirus."
