Louis Surace, DDS, a former Lockport, N.Y. pediatric dentist, will face a prison sentence of up to five years after pleading guilty Sept. 15 to sexually assaulting a girl, according to The Buffalo News.
The assault occurred in May or June of 2017, according to Niagara County Assistant District Attorney Lisa Baehre. Dr. Surace was arrested in January 2019.
Dr. Surace accepted a pre-indictment plea deal, admitting to a reduced charge of attempted first-degree criminal sexual act. State Supreme Court Justice Richard Kloch Sr. said he will not impose a sentence of more than five years with "hopes of providing for closure for the alleged victim," according to The Buffalo News.
Dr. Surace will be placed on parole-esque supervision for five to 15 years after he serves his prison sentence.
