California dental employee Karla Morales was arrested for failure to pay back restitution from a fraud scheme she committed while working at Delano Family Dentistry.
In 2018, state Department of Insurance officials found Ms. Morales had submitted 78 false insurance claims for services that were never performed, allowing her to collect over $46,000.
Ms. Morales was charged with 45 felonies, including identity theft, forgery, insurance fraud and grand theft. She was sentenced to a year in jail and five years on probation, and the court ordered her to pay back $43,987.70 in restitution.
She was arrested Aug. 5 for not paying back the restitution and is being held at a county jail without bail.
