An Ohio dentist allegedly assaulted children in his care, according to police records cited by CBS affiliate WBNS-TV.
Since 2004, seven parents and one dental assistant have filed police reports against Ronald Griffin, DDS, but he has never been arrested or charged. Police said they didn't have enough evidence to seek charges, and the State Dental Board said the dentist has a clean disciplinary history, according to WBNS-TV.
Six women who worked in Dr. Griffin's practice told WBNS-TV they saw him physically mistreat children, sometimes even leaving bruises. One parent, Stephanie Cahill, filed a police report after Dr. Griffin allegedly punched her 8-year-old daughter in the stomach in 2013.
However, many individuals reached out to WBNS-TV in support of the dentist. "We've never witnessed or experienced anything negative at all," said parent Lisa McCray.
In emails to WBNS-TV, Dr. Griffin denied all claims. He said he treats "kids with special needs, kids with some behavioral issues, etc." He wrote, "due to complaints like this … I've already made major policy changes … including more sedations." His next step is to install security cameras in the office, "so that I can show ANYONE with a complaint that their child was pushed, forced, or manhandled through treatment, that it's just not true."
