Maryland dentist pleads guilty to accessing child pornography at practice

A former family dentist in Maryland pleaded guilty June 15 to promoting and/or distributing child pornography, according to the Carroll County Times.

Adam Slatniske, DDS, was charged in November with 10 counts related to possessing and distributing child pornography as well as viewing the images from his place of employment, Parkville (Md.) Family Dentistry. Dr. Slatniske, 28, is no longer employed at the practice, owner James Kokorelis, DDS, told the Carroll County Times.

Ashley Pamer, senior assistant state's attorney, said Dr. Slatniske pleaded guilty to one charge and the state agreed to abandon pursuing the other charges. The maximum sentence the dentist faces would be three years' incarceration. At minimum, he would be put on probation, Ms. Pamer said. If he is incarcerated, Dr. Slatniske would serve his time under home detention, as per the plea agreement, according to Tom Maronick Jr., the dentist's attorney.
