Dentists should investigate whether or not the dental labs from which they buy products are manufacturing offshore, according to ADANews.
Many dentists are trying to cut expenses after returning from the pandemic-induced closures, but they should be wary if they see dental labs offering products with steep discounts. Dentists should work to track down the source of prostheses and other dental devices before they purchase them, as well as research the products' materials and lab's infection control protocols.
"Buyers should definitely beware," Travis Zick, co-founder of Apex Dental Laboratory Group, told ADANews. "If a lab is offering products at half the average cost you typically see, you should be very skeptical."
American Dental Association policy also encourages dental labs to notify dentists if prostheses' materials were manufactured in a foreign country.
