Pittsburgh-based Smile Savers Dentistry filed a proposed class-action lawsuit against Chicago-based CNA insurance seeking coverage for pandemic-induced losses and expenses, according to Law360.
Timothy Ungarean, DMD, cited Gov. Tom Wolf's March 19 order that closed all nonessential businesses in the complaint. He and the owners of other local businesses are arguing that their insurer should cover the loss of revenue resulting from the closures.
The lawsuit was filed June 5 in Pennsylvania state court.
