The last remaining consumer class-action case filed in New York against SmileDirectClub was dropped Feb. 18, according to a Feb. 24 news release.
In September 2019, more than 20 people filed class-action lawsuits against the clear aligner company, claiming the company misled investors when it went public. In mid-December, 21 plaintiffs withdrew their claims.
"We work tirelessly together to address the very small percentage of issues that can arise during treatment," said Susan Greenspon-Rammelt, SmileDirectClub chief legal officer. "This court decision verifies that these kinds of claims have no place in court."
