An anonymous University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry alumnus has donated to the school $10 million, the largest donation in the school's history.
With the funding, UCSF School of Dentistry plans to establish an endowment that will offer a steady and lasting income to support current and future deans of the school.
"We are grateful to the alumnus for this significant contribution in furthering the school's growth and development," said UCSF School of Dentistry Dean Michael Reddy, DMD. "This gift will enable us to prepare the school of a new era in dental health and medicine and support our vision for many years to come."
Currently, Dr. Reddy is focused on integrating dental students with medical students at UCSF. Because dental care is no longer being only provided at private practices, Dr. Reddy sees a need to have medical, dental, nursing and pharmacy students learning together.
UCSF School of Dentistry supports approximately 170 faculty members and 435 students.
