California Dental Association President Del Brunner, DDS, suggested an opinion piece on teledentistry contained false information, according to a piece in the Times of San Diego.
The article incorrectly accused the CDA of creating barriers for consumers seeking clear aligner therapy through telehealth, Dr. Brunner writes.
CDA has sponsored and supported laws that established and funded telehealth dental programs to ensure people who are disabled, elderly or live in rural areas receive care in the past, Dr. Brunner said. However, dental care without adequate diagnostic information can lead to serious harm. Business models offering various dental services outside of a dental office must still meet standards of care and prioritize patient safety, he concluded.
