A Fort Collins, Colo.-based dental office is grieving the loss of a 29-year-old dental hygienist who was buried beneath a heavy snow avalanche Dec. 8, Fox affiliate KDVR reports.
Michelle Lindsay was skiing on South Diamond Peak when snow gave way and buried her. She had worked as a dental hygienist at Murphy Dental in Fort Collins for about six years, practice owner Mike Murphy, DDS, told KDVR. Dr. Murphy said Ms. Lindsay, who spent her entire career at Murphy Dental, was considered family.
Ms. Lindsay died doing what she loved, according to Dr. Murphy.
"This past August, she actually decreased her time at our practice to become a ranger," the dentist told KDVR. "That's how much she loved the great outdoors."
Colorado has reported at least 185 avalanches this season.
