More than 100 dental practices have experienced disruptions in operations due to a ransomware attack at third-party vendor Complete Technology Solutions, according to KrebsOnSecurity.
Complete Technology Solutions provides network security, data backup and phone services, among other IT services, to dental practices across the country. The tech provider was infected with ransomware Nov. 25. Dental practices have been unable to access their computers since.
When contacted by KrebsOnSecurity, Complete Technology Solutions President Herb Miner declined to comment.
It appears that Complete Technology Solutions has not paid the $700,000 ransom demand, according to the report. However, individual practices are negotiating individual ransom demands that they can pay to regain access to their computers.
