A Florida dentist diagnosed with breast cancer gave out 500 dental packages to fellow chemotherapy patients, hoping to promote oral care during treatment, according to ABC affiliate WFTS.
Danoosh Amrooei, DMD, was diagnosed with breast cancer in June, not long after opening Apollo Beach, Fla.-based Monaco Dentistry. When she couldn't perform dental procedures, she decided to hand out dental packages to chemo patients with mouth pain at Riverview, Fla.-based St. Joseph's Hospital-South.
"After my first chemo, I went to brush my teeth and it was super painful," Dr. Amrooei said.
Robust donations allowed the dentist to deliver 500 packages stocked with soft toothbrushes, sensitive toothpaste, mouth rinses and more. Dr. Amrooei also created an uplifting YouTube channel, Chemo Talk. The dentist recently finished her last chemo treatment.
