Howard, S.D.-based Horizon Health Care received $300,000 from HHS to expand its oral health offerings, according to the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan.
With the grant, Horizon will purchase dental and medical telemedicine software, upgrade its panoramic machines and acquire new digital X-ray sensors.
Horizon treated around 8,000 patients at its eight dental clinics in 2018.
"This grant was highly competitive, so we are fortunate for this opportunity to improve oral health outcomes and enhance our existing services for our health center patients," Michell Scholtz, DDS, chief dental officer at Horizon, told the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan.
