California dentists can now use the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System to review patients' prescriptions from other providers, according to the California Dental Association.
CURES allows dentists to search patients’ prescribing backgrounds by name, address, birth date and gender. The system stores data from up to one year back.
The system is meant to help dentists if they misplace a prescription pad or if they suspect someone misusing their Drug Enforcement Agency number.
