5 proactive tips to avoid workers’ compensation fraud in dental practices

Claim-related fraud, which typically occurs when an employee falsely claims a work-related injury to obtain worker's compensation, can cost businesses billions of dollars every year, according to small business insurance expert Employers.

Here are five considerations to prevent workers' compensation fraud in dental practices:

1. Establish a zero-tolerance policy on fraud. Encourage employees to immediately report suspicions of potential fraud.

2. Develop a safety plan. Make sure all employees understand safety policies and procedures. Hold safety meetings, have signage to reinforce policies and reward employees that meet safety goals.
