A St. Louis dentist has pleaded guilty to wrongfully prescribing opioids to a woman for 10 years and lying to Medicare, according to local NBC affiliate KSDK.
Bradley Seyer, DDS, said he ordered around 14,000 units of different opioids for the woman during the 10-year period. The woman died of an overdose of fentanyl in July 2018.
Dr. Seyer also admitted to prescribing opioids for the woman's father although the dentist had no treatment records of him.
The dentist faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine for making false statements to Medicare. Dr. Seyer faces another 10 years in prison and $500,000 fine for illegally distributing opioids. His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 25.
