A Los Angeles dentist was sentenced to 40 months in prison on June 6 for his role in a $3.8 million healthcare fraud scheme.
Benjamin Rosenberg, DDS, pleaded guilty to submitting and causing around $3,853,931 in false and fraudulent claims to different insurance companies. He would file claims for crowns, fillings and other dental procedures that he never performed, according to the Department of Justice.
The various insurance providers paid Dr. Rosenberg more than $1.4 million.
Dr. Rosenberg was also ordered to pay $1,141,011 in restitution. The dentist pleaded guilty to one count of healthcare fraud on Jan. 31.
