Nadeem Karimbux, DDS, has been named the new dean of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, effective July 1. He is the dental school's 17th dean.
Five notes:
1. Previously, Dr. Karimbux served as the associate dean for academic affairs and a professor of periodontology at the dental school.
2. Prior to joining Tufts University, Dr. Karimbux was the assistant dean for dental education at Boston-based Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
3. Dr. Karimbux is the editor of the Journal of Dental Education and has served on the American Dental Education Association Council of Faculties. He has also served in editorial and advisory roles for the Journal of Periodontology.
4. Currently, Dr. Karimbux is an active researcher and an associate editor for the Oral Health Integration, Workforce and Practice section of the upcoming 2020 Surgeon General's Report on Oral Health.
5. Tufts University's dental school has 17 clinics that treat more than 39,000 patients annually.
