Tennessee dentist surrenders license after making employees submit false claims

Murfreesboro, Tenn.-based dentist Richard Schott, DDS, voluntarily surrendered his license, records with the Tennessee Department of Health show, according to the Daily News Journal.

Dr. Schott pleaded guilty to defrauding various insurance companies. At his practice, Dr. Schott said he made his employees submit $932,839 in false claims between Nov. 2013 and Jan. 2018.

The dentist was ordered to pay $14,000 in civil penalties. He is barred from applying for a new license for a year.

Dr. Schott's sentencing is scheduled for June 7.
