Irondequoit, N.Y.-based Wilson Dental is under fire after a dentist allegedly shamed a mother for breastfeeding in the office, according to the Democrat & Chronicle.
Tiffany Elliott turned to Facebook to voice her frustration after a dentist at the practice allegedly asked her to stop preparing to breastfeed. The dentist claimed she was preparing to leave the room to allow Ms. Elliott to breastfeed.
Wilson Dental's policy on the issue states that mothers are allowed the breastfeed anywhere in the office. Ms. Elliott claims she was never informed of this policy by office staff.
A group of protestors visited the practice Dec. 5 to support Ms. Elliott. Wilson Dental was closed Dec. 3 and Dec. 4 after hearing rumors of protests.
In response, Wilson Dental plans to implement a training on its breastfeeding policy to employees at its regional locations.
