The American Dental Association voted for Chad Gehani, DDS, to serve as its next president, according to India West.
Here are five things to know:
1. Dr. Gehani serves as the Indian American executive director for the Indian Dental Association in the U.S.
2. The ADA's 482 delegates overwhelmingly voted for Dr. Gehani over three fellow physicians . He will assume his post as president in October 2019.
3. Dr. Gehani has been a member of the ADA for more than 30 years. He made more than 20 trips to multiple states to campaign for the presidential spot.
4. Previously, Dr. Gehani served as president of the New York State Dental Association and Queens County Dental Society. He is a member of the American Association of Endodontists and Indian Dental Association.
5. Dr. Gehani earned his doctor of dental surgery degree from Columbia University College of Dental Medicine in New York City.
