The Organization for Safety, Asepsis and Prevention launched the Journal of Dental Infection Control and Safety.
Here are five things to know:
1. The online, peer-reviewed journal will feature unpublished scholarly articles that focus on clinical practice and education as well as scholarly and secondary research on dental infection and control.
2. The U.S. Library of Congress approved the new journal, which will serve as a resource for dental healthcare professionals. OSAP said the journal will impact the advancement of patient safety and infection control across the dental continuum.
3. J. Hudson Garret Jr., DDS, will serve as the journal's editor-in-chief. Dr. Garret is on the OSAP's board of directors. He is the co-founder of the Infection Prevention Institute.
4. The Journal of Dental Infection Control and Safety editorial board will review manuscripts for appropriateness and significance to dental professionals.
5. As a multidisciplinary, international journal, authors are invited to submit articles related to evidence-based practice, new initiatives, outcomes research, patient engagement and regulatory issues, among other topics.
