A Detroit woman is being investigator for illegally selling and performing dental procedures without a license, according to Click on Detroit.
Here are five things to know:
1. On Facebook, LaToya Michaels, who was promoting herself as Ms. Johnson, advertised and sold braces and whitening services.
2. Ms. Michaels charged $150 to places braces on the top row of a patient's teeth, she charged the same to have braces placed on the bottom row of teeth.
3. Patients were charged $50 for braces to be tightened, $10 to $20 to fix braces and $65 for teeth whitening.
4. When Click on Detroit's Help Me Hank went undercover, Ms. Michaels offered to perform the dental procedures at the patient's home rather than her own.
5. A search in the State Licensing Department did not turn up a licensed dentist or orthodontist using the name Latoya Michaels. The department and Michigan Dental Association have been contacted to open up an investigation.
