Biolase partnered with the Los Angeles Chargers to expand the access of advanced dental care to children in underserved communities in Southern California.
Here are five takeaways.
1. Biolase hopes the partnership will eliminate the gap of untreated dental conditions through raising awareness of and increasing access to advanced technologies.
2. The Charges and Biolase also plan to work with TeamSmile, an advocacy group for underserved children to receive dental care. Together, the three will host several programs throughout the year for children to undergo free preventive care visits, screenings, radiographs and laser treatments.
3. Biolase will also provide oral health tips through the Chargers' radio networks, social medical channels and gameday announcements.
4. In Los Angeles, more than 70 percent of underserved children have untreated tooth decay. Biolase plans to use its minimally invasive dental lasers to help combat the rise in tooth decay.
5. "Dental lasers have dramatically transformed dentistry as we know it – going to the dentist no longer has to be a scary experience," said John Beaver, Biolase senior vice president, CFO and interim CEO. "By partnering with the Chargers, we aim to raise the visibility of dental lasers and pain-free dentistry, changing both the perception and experience of dentistry for all patients and extending this care the underserved communities, who may not otherwise have access."
