Armen Megerdichian, DDS, is accused of conspiring to set fire to his dental practice to claim property insurance payouts, accord to Patch.
Here's what you need to know.
1. Investigators have now charged Dr. Megerdichian with 13 felony counts, including filing false claims, concealing facts and grand theft.
2. Dr. Megerdichian pled not guilty. He posted a $600,000 bond and was released April 2.
3. Jonas Borsca Jr. who is one of Dr. Megerdichian's alleged co-conspirators posted a $35,000 bond and was released. He is charged with filing a false insurance claim and knowingly preparing false claims.
4. Cornel Lucaci is the third co-conspirator. She is charged with arson, burglary, submitting false insurance claims, grand theft, forgery and identity theft. Mr. Lucaci is being held on $2 million bail.
5. Dr. Megerdichian and his partners allegedly set fire to the practice in March 2014. The total amount of insurance payments was unclear.
6. The Dental Board of California lists Dr. Megerdichian as an active dentist with a license to practice. He has no other listings of prior felony convictions.
