Portsmouth (N.H.) Dental Studios dentist Brian Hunter, DDS, is suspended from practicing after the New Hampshire Board of Dental Examiners found Dr. Hunger breached infection control protocols, according to the Seacoast Online.
Here are five observations:
1. The Bureau of Infection Disease Control visited Dr. Hunter's office and found improperly sanitized instruments.
2. In February, Dr. Hunter self-reported instruments used on patients were put into an autoclave for sterilization. Dr. Hunter said the autoclave indicated instruments were sterilized.
3. However, when the Bureau of Infectious Disease Control visited Dr. Hunter's office, they found Dr. Hunter's practice did not follow standard infection control policies.
4. The investigation found Dr. Hunter and his staff could not provide proper cleaning and disinfection procedures. Dr. Hunter also did not have written instrument sterilization instructions.
5. Dr. Hunter will appear at an April 2 hearing where he will be subject to further sanctions.
