Officials in DeForest, Wis., voted to remove fluoride from the city's water supply, according to a Feb. 11 report from Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Members of the board voted 4-3 to remove fluoride from drinking water during a Feb. 4 meeting.
During a January public hearing, many DeForest residents asked the board to keep fluoride in the water supply.
According to data from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, 78 Wisconsin communities have discontinued adding fluoride to their water.
The effects of water fluoridation have been heavily debated in recent months after new research questioned its impact on people's health.
