The Grand Forks (N.D.) City Council rejected a proposal to remove fluoride from the city's water supply, according to a Jan. 6 report from Grand Forks Herald.
In a 4-3 vote, the council decided to keep fluoride in the drinking water. Had the vote been to remove fluoride, a code change would have been required, which takes several weeks.
The city's water supply has fluoride levels of around 0.7 mg fluoride per liter of drinking water, which is the level recommended by the U.S. Public Health Service.
McVille, N.D., another city in the state, recently voted to remove fluoride from its water supply.
The council may revisit the topic of water fluoridation in future meetings and speak with experts on the topic, the report said.
