The American Dental Association and other dental technology developers have successfully exchanged a full patient record from one system to another using a dental health information exchange program.
This is the first successful test of a Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources-based dental record exchange, according to an Oct. 29 news release.
The exchange took place during the HL7 FHIR Connectathon, an event aimed at developing resources for the Health Level Seven International’s Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources standard. The ADA has previously worked with HL7 to create dental interoperability standards.
