Three dental organizations recently partnered to develop the first-ever global protocols for digital cleft treatment.
Three notes:
1. Dental supplier Dentsply Sirona partnered with Smile Train, a cleft-focused nonprofit, and the FDI World Dental Federation to establish a global standard aimed at improving the accuracy and efficacy of current treatments, according to an April 26 news release.
2. The protocols cover presurgical orthopedics, mixed and permanent dentition and oral rehabilitation. They also include remote monitoring and oral health components.
3. The organizations created an interactive tool to help dental professionals access the information and developed a clinical education course to provide in-depth training on the protocols.
